YoonHyun Cho is a Senior Associate Lawyer at Rosen & Associates Tax Law.
Having completed his articling placement and over two years of practice as an associate lawyer with R&A Tax Law, YoonHyun has developed a strong focus on complex tax dispute resolution, compliance, and planning. He advises individuals, businesses, and executors on navigating the intricate landscape of Canadian tax law. His practice often involves representing clients before the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) in high-stakes audits and appeals, as well as assisting with succession planning, tax and estate planning, and cross-border structuring. YoonHyun also works extensively with clients who have non-resident (including U.S.) beneficiaries, international asset and property holdings, and foreign reporting obligations. In addition, he advises on voluntary disclosures and Canadian tax regularization for individuals, trusts, and estates.
YoonHyun earned his Juris Doctor from Queen’s University Faculty of Law and holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Toronto, specializing in Finance and Economics, graduating with High Distinction from the Rotman Commerce Program. In addition, YoonHyun holds the Certified Information Privacy Professional/Canada (CIPP/C) credential through the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP). This designation enhances his ability to safeguard taxpayer data and ensures compliance with federal privacy regulations, reducing the risks of breaches and unauthorized disclosures and improving the effectiveness of Access to Information and Privacy (ATIP) Act requests.
YoonHyun is currently completing the CPA In-Depth Tax Program and is an affiliate member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), where he is pursuing his Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP) designation.
Prior to attending law school, YoonHyun lived, studied, and worked in South Korea, Italy, China, and several U.S. states. These diverse experiences have profoundly shaped his ability to build strong, lasting relationships with clients, colleagues, and other professionals by fostering a deep appreciation for different cultures and perspectives. In his spare time, he enjoys being outside and walking his toy poodle, Blueberry.
