Rosen and Associates Student Program
Welcome to Rosen and Associates (Rosen Tax Law)!
We are a boutique tax litigation law firm, while also handling some corporate-commercial, and tax planning matters. We mainly represent our clients/taxpayers in their fights against the Canada Revenue Agency, and the Minister of National Revenue at the Tax Court of Canada. Beginning in audit and going all the way to Federal Court, we aim to ensure our clients only pay the taxes that they should be responsible for, and not a penny more.
At Rosen Tax Law, we understand where you work matters. Beginning as a summer student, your goal is to get the education, and experience that will allow you to enter the profession with confidence, and hopefully with a job. We strive to ensure we have an inclusive, welcoming environment, that provides equal opportunities to all of our students. With this in mind, we have created a student program that focuses on the following:
- Ensuring an inclusive, welcoming environment;
- Providing meaningful work; and
- Personal growth.
Summer Program
We hire six to eight summer students, preferably following their second year of law school, to assist us with our client work. As a summer student, you can expect to:
- Communicate directly with CRA;
- Negotiate directly with CRA;
- Draft pleadings;
- Draft memorandums;
- Perform legal research;
- Assist with litigation steps; and
- Learn as much as possible.
Our goal is for you to enjoy the work you are doing, but most importantly to train you to become one of our articling students.
Articling Program
Our objective is to bring our six to eight summer students back as articling students. Jason, our founding partner, takes two students and act as their principals. Other associates will act as principals as well. However, you will learn from everyone at the firm from the partners, to the associates, paralegals, law clerks and everyone else who works at Rosen Tax Law.
As an articling student you will continue the work you started as a summer student. However, in addition, you will attend any and all litigation steps at the Tax Court of Canada, the Federal Court, and the Federal Court of Appeal should any matters you are working on head for a hearing / trial.
We want our students to end their articling term feeling confident about themselves, and their knowledge of tax law.
If you are interested in joining us as a summer student, or an articling student, we ask that you send your cover letter, resume, and transcripts to info@rosentaxlaw.com. Writing samples and letters of reference are not required but they are appreciated.
