Throughout her legal studies, Katelyn was actively involved in the University of Ottawa community and participated in a number of student organizations. She was a member of the Women’s Legal Education and Action Fund (LEAF), an organization dedicated to advancing substantive equality and protecting the legal rights of women through advocacy, education, and law reform. She also contributed to Elephant in the Room; a student initiative focused on reducing the stigma surrounding mental health and remained active in intramural volleyball throughout law school.
During her second year, Katelyn served as an editor for the Ottawa Law Review, a bilingual, peer-reviewed academic journal published by students in the Common Law Section. In this role, she collaborated with the editorial team to verify citations in accordance with the McGill Guide and conducted substantive and technical edits of academic submissions.
In her final year of law school, Katelyn completed a legislative internship with the Honourable Senator Yvonne Boyer. Working within the Senate of Canada, she conducted legal and policy research on complex legislative issues, with a particular focus on Indigenous rights and health policy.
Katelyn also served as a mentor with Legally Bright, an organization that provides one-on-one mentorship to students interested in pursuing a legal education. Through this role, she supported aspiring law students by sharing her experiences and helping them navigate the law school admissions process.
Outside of her legal practice, Katelyn enjoys travelling, running, and staying active through a variety of sports, including volleyball and skiing.
