Raphael Rutman
Personal Experience
Raphael joined Rosen & Associates in early 2023 as an experienced Litigation Counsel with over ten years of experience in our practice area.
His experience has afforded him the ability to focus his practice on common issues prevalent in tax litigation including shareholder benefits, real estate dispositions, non-arm’s length transfer liability, director liability, taxpayer interest and penalty relief applications, GST/HST input tax credits, among other topical disputes.
Raphael has represented his clients throughout the tax litigation process, including all levels of the dispute resolution process at the CRA. He regularly appears before the as well as at the Tax Court of Canada, the Federal Court of Canada, the Federal Court of Appeal and the Ontario Superior Court of Justice.
Raphael has also practiced in the areas of corporate tax law planning and reorganization and Wills and Estates.
Raphael obtained a degree in International Bachelor’s of Business Administration from the Schulich School of Business at York University and a Juris Doctorate from Brooklyn Law School. He has been admitted to both the Bar of the State of New York and the Ontario Bar Association.
Outside of strongly advocating for his clients, Raphael enjoys spending quality time with his two young, albeit mischievous children. Raphael also enjoys his history books and podcasts, and the occasional beverage in accordance with Health Canada guidelines.
